Landlord Entry Notice Laws by State

A 50-state comparison for residential rentals, with every state verified against official statutes. Each figure in this table comes from a statute verification pass against official state sources — each row shows its own verified date, and each state links to its own page with the full citations.

23 of the 50 states require advance notice before a landlord enters a rental, from 12 hours to 2 days; 24 hours is the norm, used by 14 states. The remaining 27 set no statutory period at all. 38 states recognize an emergency exception to whatever notice is required.
